Maura Griffin

Maura Griffin, CFP®, MBA, is founder and CEO of Blue Spark Capital Advisors. She has held a number of positions in the financial industry over the past 20 years, including UBS Equities Research, Citigroup Private Bank, and The Capital Group Companies. Before that, she was a journalist, and a founder of the Globe Bookstore & Coffeehouse in Prague, Czech Republic.

Maura is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and has signed the “Fiduciary Oath” to uphold the firm’s fiduciary standards. In addition to the CFP® she also is a CDFA™, a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. She graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in Literature and earned her M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia University. Maura splits her time between our Manhattan office on Madison Ave + 26th St. and our Lenox, Mass., office, and she has a son in college.

Matt Carey Blue SparkMatt Carey, CDFA®, MBA, is an investment advisor with Blue Spark, specializing in divorce planning. Matt’s  clients, especially women going through divorce, praise his calm demeanor and astute understanding of their often-difficult situations. Matt also works with non-profit endowments and couples preparing for retirement together.

Matt is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. Previously, Matt was President of Global Risk Jobs; he also spent 15 years in investment banking, with Bank of America Securities and ABN AMRO. Matt also serves as Director of Financial Market Studies at Iona’s Hagan School of Business. Matt graduated from Georgetown with a B.A. in History and earned an M.B.A. in finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Business. He lives in Pelham, N.Y., with his wife and three boys.

Donna Camacho works with our back-offices in both our New York City and Massachusetts offices. Donna is dedicated to helping Maura Griffin and Matt Carey support their clients. Donna’s experience includes 20+ years as an Administrative and Executive Assistant, which includes more than seven years of C-Level executive support. Most recently she spent four years as a financial planner assistant and client services specialist at an East Coast financial planning firm. She provides services through her DCVA business. Donna and her husband have three adult children and a small farm of rescue animals.

DeenaDeena Maerowitz, J.D., M.S.W., is a trusted independent college admissions counselor. Blue Spark clients and their children often work hand-in-hand with Deena, who believes that the college search should focus on each student’s strengths and on finding schools where students will learn, grow, and thrive.

Deena earned her B.A. at Mount Holyoke College, her law degree at the University of Connecticut’s School of Law, and her social work M.A. in Policy and Planning also at Connecticut. She lives in Ridgefield, Conn., with her husband and daughter.
